Castor Oil
Castor oil, extracted from the seeds of the castor oil plant (Ricinus communis), is a non-edible vegetable oil extensively used in various industries. It predominantly comprises triglycerides, with ricinoleate accounting for approximately 90 percent of the fatty acid chains. Other significant components include oleate and linoleates. Castor oil and its derivatives are pivotal in industrial and technical sectors, finding applications in paints, printing inks, lubricants, hydraulic fluids, and more. It also serves as a source of ricinoleic acid, a distinctive fatty acid featuring a hydroxyl functional group on the 12th carbon.
